Changeworks were Commissioned by the Rural & Islands Housing Associations Forum (RIHAF), the Highlands & Islands Housing Associations Affordable Warmth group (HIHAAW) and Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), to carry out a report on the drivers, impacts and extent of fuel poverty in rural Scotland.
The research compares three regions – Caithness and Sutherland, Highlands and Islands and remote rural areas.

    Funding Opportunities







    The Ian Findlay Path Fund supports the improvement of local paths within and between communities, making it easier for people to choose active travel and public transport for everyday journeys.

    The fund is open to a wide range of community and third sector organisations. 

    Funding of a sum between £10,000 - £100,000 is available, with 30% match funding required (15% can be in kind).

    The Morrisons Foundation supports registered charities making a positive difference in local communities across England, Scotland, and Wales.

    Grants are available for up to £10,000 for capital spend or direct project delivery.

    Worrying About Money? Highland App


    NHS Highland has developed an app to provide financial support to people during the cost of living crisis.

    The Worrying About Money (WAM) app was developed by the Health Board in partnership with the Independent Food Aid Network and signposts to a wide variety of support networks for people who are worried about their finances

    The app is free can be downloaded using the following QR codes:

    Highland Senior Citizens Network
     have restarted their Highland Older People’s Get-togethers. 
    The next Sutherland one will be
     • Assynt Centre, Lochinver, Wednesday 10th May, 2pm until 4pm

    The Get-togethers aim to give individuals, representatives from older people’s groups and people supporting older people’s groups, the opportunity to come together in their local area and look at common issues, share information about their groups and about local services and activities.
