News and Updates

Public Health have published the Demographics for all areas of Highland on their website. Find them here:  Public health profiles | NHS Highland (scot.nhs.uk)

Sutherland statistics include:

•  As of 2021, Sutherland has a population of 13,142 people. 12.4% of the population are children aged 0-15 years, 57.5% are aged 16-64 years, and 30.1% are people aged 65 years and over

•  There were 60 live births to Sutherland residents in 2020

Funding Opportunities

The ALDI Scottish Sport Fund opens on the 24th April for applicants in Highland. 

You can get up to £2500 for your sports club.

Next deadline is 15th May 2023

Applications should fall into one of the following categories:

Montane

Fresh Water

Marine and Coastal

Forest and Woodland

Community Learning Event

Wednesday 26 April 2023, 1pm to 3pm

This event takes place at Inverness Masjid, 1 Portland Place, Inverness IV1 1NE

Free, but must be booked in advance: 

How to decarbonise your community building · Local Energy Scotland

• learn about how CARES can help your community
• find out about the funding available to install renewable technologies
• find out how Inverness Masjid installed solar PV panels and battery storage with support from CARES (read our case study)
• see the technologies up close and hear more about how they work
• have time to network with other communities attending.

Local Energy Scotland, which manages CARES for the Scottish Government, will have development officers on hand to answer any questions you may have.
